Thigh Lift Surgery
As men and women in Virginia and elsewhere fight the effects of age, gravity and heredity, they find that their thighs can be especially problematic when it comes to battling fat and maintaining pleasing contours. That's why many plastic surgery patients in Salem, Roanoke, Cave Spring and beyond are choosing thigh lifts, also known as thighplasty, to enhance the appearance of their upper legs.
At Dr. Carol A. Wray's board-certified practice in Salem, VA, she and her staff are pleased to offer thigh lifts to men and women in Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas. Please set up a consultation today at The Center for Plastic Surgery at Ridgewood Hill and discover how thighplasty can help you.
What is a thigh lift?
A thigh lift improves your body's contour by removing excess skin and fat from the inside or outside of your upper thigh. The surgery results in smoother skin and better proportions in the thighs and lower body. The outpatient procedure usually takes about three hours to complete.
Who is a candidate for a thigh lift?
There are many factors involved when determining whether you are right for the procedure. Typically in Salem, our thigh lift patients are of relatively stable weight and have excess loose skin along the inner and/or outer thighs.
What is a thigh lift consultation like?
The Center for Plastic Surgery at Ridgewood Hill hosts consultations everyday with residents of Salem, Roanoke and Cave Spring, as well as patients from other areas in Virginia. We are committed to giving you the best thighplasty care, and that begins with your initial appointment. Your thigh lift consultation in Salem will include a comprehensive physical examination and a complete rundown of the procedure.
What can I expect after a thigh lift?
After your thigh lift in Salem, you will see almost-immediate results, although at first your new contours will be somewhat obscured by a bit of swelling and bruising. To minimize this swelling - and support the tissues as they heal - you will probably be required to wear a compression garment for several weeks. Once the incisions have healed we will work on scar care to help minimize the appearance of scars.
How long does it take to recover from a thigh lift?
Most patients are able to return to work within two or three weeks after they undergo a thigh lift in Salem. However, strenuous activity should be avoided for about 6 weeks.
What are some possible risks of a thigh lift?
As with any surgery, there is a chance of scarring, infection and fluid collections. Dr. Wray and her surgical team will make it a point to keep track of your progress through scheduled, post-thigh-lift appointments in Salem.
Is a thigh lift painful?
There is almost always some discomfort associated with surgery. When you undergo a thigh lift, you can usually expect bruising, swelling and a tight feeling in the thighs. The majority pain should subside after a few weeks.
What about scarring from a thigh lift?
Although thigh lift techniques can vary, an inner thigh lift will involve a scar in the groin region and may come down the thigh. The outer thigh lift procedure places a scar extending from the hip along the buttock area.
How long does a thigh lift last?
One of the main benefits of a thigh lift is the fact that its effects are long lasting. Maintaining a stable weight and an active lifestyle, will prolong the effects of a thigh lift.
