Coolsculpting™ by Zeltiq is a non invasive procedure that is an alternative for liposuction. It removes some of the excess fat by actually freezing the fat and allowing it to slowly go away. Whereas liposuction may remove approximately 70% of unwanted fat, Coolsculpting™ will probably remove somewhere around 20%. It is a slower process that will take 2 to 4 months to see the final result. There is no down time associated with this. You have a treatment in the office and may continue with your daily activities as normal. You do not need to wear any type of special garments; you usually will not have bruising, but could have a suction mark that may last for 5 to 7 days. Areas that have been coolsculpted can be done again after 12 weeks or more.

The area treated will feel sore for about 15 minutes after the treatment, and may be numb or have a change in sensation that could last for several weeks but tends to be minor. After the area warms up, it may be swollen and minimally tender for a few weeks. You do not need to limit any activities following Coolsculpting.
Wear loose comfortable clothing the day of your procedure. Bring a laptop, book, or something to do as each treatment cycle is one hour. Watching a DVD seems to help pass the time most quickly.
